Key terms

Portability: Technology being easily transportable from one location to another.

Convergence: The joining of two or more technologies in one device.
e.g. Playstation 2, it's a games console, a CD player and a DVD player in one.

Interactivity: The consumer being able to join in with new ways with the media.
e.g. Using the red button to interact on sky.

Compatabilty: The ability to run programmes on different ranges of computers.

Storage: The holding of data by the computer, it can be saved temporarly on the computer and permanent storage is available on disk or USB.

Miniaturisation: Thes shrinking of something to make it fit on a smaller scale.

Digital: All forms of data (sound, images, text,) being transmitted in the smallest form possible.

Connectivity: The ability for technology to be able to connect to the internet.

Synergy: The ways in which media institutions use their various product to sell each other.
e.g. A film, it's sound track and then a video game.
